The Human Language Analysis Beings ( HLAB) conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, natural language processing, psychology, and health informatics to develop large-scale language analysis methods. Our work focuses on advancing AI-based language understanding and creating rigorous, data-driven approaches to assess health, personality, and well-being as expressed through naturalistic language.
Through computational methods grounded in behavioral science, HLAB aims to generate reproducible insights with relevance to both scientific research and applications for the public good. HLAB is based at Vanderbilt University’s College of Connected Computing, with continuing collaborations and affiliations at Stony Brook University’s Department of Computer Science and partner institutions.
